What kind of photography do I love? People have tried to force me into a box for years. Am I a wedding photographer? Am I a child photographer? Seniors? Headshots? Product and commercial? The answer is a resounding yes. I aspire to create soulful portraiture and custom art. I love connecting and collaborating with other local small business owners. And, I love to shoot film.

Why I Shoot Film.

I wanted a slower life. (I still do). This desire is what drew me back to film. In a world of fast food digital photography, film is the Italian slow dinner. Everyone is a photographerWhen I receive the film scans from the lab, I feel how my clients must feel when I deliver a gallery to them: thrilled. And, as much as I’ve tried to replicate the look of film in digital photography – as many muddy Lightroom presets as I’ve purchased – it’s not possible. People comment that my work is unique, and I believe what you are seeing is the subtle, yet rich flavor of film.

I aspire to create timeless images you will cherish for generations – photos which elicit the same sense of nostalgia that your grandparents’ photos do. With the rapid pace of ever changing technology, I know I can depend on film. I still don’t understand the cloud…I no longer have a cd drive; however, I have film negatives from childhood which are still printable. This is why I choose film.

Shooting film makes me more thoughtful and deliberate with each click of the shutter, which means I’m more present and able to connect with you. And, that’s what drew me to portrait photography: people.
